Next month is Bring Your Dog to Work Day.

We have an office dog here at Berrison – his name is Dave. Dave is technically part of director Martyn’s family, but we like to think of him as part of the wider Berrison clan as well. He’s often here between walks, just hanging out and being part of the team.

We’re far from alone in this – dogs are increasingly joining the workspace, as office buildings radically change in culture and design.

Schools across the UK use therapy dogs to help their SEN and wider population of pupils to relax. They can support children with social and emotional learning needs and assist with literacy development.

In addition, a growing number of studies have proven that pets can help with numerous issues, from depression and PTSD to addictions, stress and loneliness.

For others, a therapy dog can be trained to provide affection, comfort and love.

With Dave it’s simple – we just love having him around. He puts up with our heated debates, constant coming and going, enthused creative sessions – even Colin’s guitar playing.

Dave is a hugely important member of the team. We miss him when he is not here!

Let’s hear it for the dogs.
